Chasing the Truth
“Ultracrepidarianism is the habit of giving opinions and advice on matters outside of one’s knowledge. Consequently, ultracrepidarian is a person who criticizes, judges or gives advice on matters that are outside the area of his or her competence. It turns out that we live in a world full of ultracrepidarians”…
Interesting word, ultra-super-califragilistic-crepidarian-ism… Seriously, I do understand the context of the word. What’s kind of funny is how this word implies a separation of enlightenment or knowledge from one person to another… And how exactly does insight or intuition fit in?
“Outside the area of his or her competence”…
Within the definition, we can witness the true usage of the word… Apparently, there is some king, ruler, or system that defines who is and isn’t competent. Competent to obey…Obey the rules, obey its law, serve its interests…or even promote the false representation of its history…
Ultracrepidarious historians, (or any human being studying history) can be considered incompetent, but not due to intelligence. They would be incompetent because they can only master what is presented to them via historical records, which is mostly a ring a round the rosey to nowhere…
Nations are not much different than individual people, in terms of trying to hide its ugliest aspects and promoting its best attributes…
Did you ever hear about the great north american war between the united states and France? Well, you wouldn’t because it never happened thanks to a small island called Saint Domingue (modern day Haiti)

If it wasn’t for the successful slave revolt in Haiti, would Napoleon ever even have sold the lands of the Louisiana Purchase? Think about how that one transaction affected modern day America… Seems to me that we owe a lot of thanks to Haiti, since our existence was so affected by their passionate uprisal… Think about how much wealth America has generated from the westside of Modern day America; the gold rush, the land grabs, the oil industry, all would be French profits…
The next time you feel some national pride, just once, thank the slaves of Saint Domingue, for ‘your freedom’.
Then we can be ultraappreciarians together…
