This kind of interference is what can lead to misunderstandings on Medium.

INTERFERENCE?

Danna , I am sorry you see my comment as “an interference”. Randomly had published her story on Medium , available for all to read and comment on. Your response was also public . Medium specifically encourages the readers/authors to comment on anything that is being published. We are even reminded by default that every comment will be treated as a story in its own right . I am not good at statistics , but I could bet that these “interferences” make up for at least 50% if not more of the Medium’s content !

Whenever a conversation is intended to be exclusive for the two people only, without any “ interference”, Medium kindly provides an option for private messaging .

My understanding is that, as different as the myriad of us here on Medium will be, all of us have one thing in common. We all share the love for the written word. We publish in order to be read by others and because we expect the readers to comment and thus communicate with us. Misunderstandings are bound to happen occasionally. It is only natural . Nothing wrong with that. It is an inherent part of the communication process. That is where the language gets to play its role. As long as we are open and willing to communicate, every misunderstanding can easily become an understanding . Without any anger or animosity.

I admit I have misunderstood the nature of your comment to her story. Randomly kindly explained that it was okay, since you two are better acquainted. If I had known that, I would have felt no need to comment. Misunderstanding cleared. Now if you are willing to understand where I was coming from, you will see that we are on the same side with regard to Randomly . Most probably you would have done the same if the roles were reversed and you were in my place. I hope so, at least.

Finally — If you read my conversation with Randomly, you will find I have already apologized to you for my intrusion. Then I saw your comment . Suddenly I found myself dancing a paso doble — or would it be chachacha ? One step forward, two back. Just the negative connotation of the word “interference” has led me to defend my right to comment, even though I see now that it was uncalled for…
