What Happened When We Gave Our Daughter My Last Name
The Hairpin

It was an interesting story.

Let me share one of mine. I have this amazing cousin I had even babysat long time ago. Now she is a grown woman, a professor of astrophysics at a certain University. She had married a coleague, also an astrophysicist. A lovely couple, happily married without children. When they were getting married they had agreed that each should carry a surname of the other. His surname is Prester, hers Dominis. In which order the surnames will be was to be decided by drawing lots. Hers came to be the first. So now they both carry a name Dominis-Prester . In that order. He is truly the most emancipated man I have ever met and their story is the one I am so proud to share.
