NO DRAMA

I enjoyed your story. You have elegantly weaved the obligatory ice cubes theme with a couple of charming random stories of your choice ; I fell in love with the Al’s persona, his wife , his job history ; the guy who had cut off the water supply to a water tank and converted it into a home -that was so funny !

You created a soft fabric of light and pleasant colors that do not strain or offend the eye. Something like my favorite little blanket I use to cuddle up when chilling on my couch in the evening. Please do not misunderstand me here, a blanket like that is essential to my general daily feeling of well being!

Reading this, I get a nice feeling that, in spite of all that is wrong with the world, it can still be a nice , friendly and a relaxed place to live in. Where discrimination of any kind is not an issue ; where sufficient income and comfortable life are self evident; where the environmental damage to this planet is not terminal , it can be reversed. There was that ironical punchline at the end, referring to the one/third profit off the bottled ice water from the melting glaciers , but nonetheless, the tone was easy…

I don’t know if that was your intention, but to me, your story was a gentle suggestion — just like a light tap on the shoulder — that with the right attitude , with a dose of just reasonable effort and, by all means, with a little sprinkling of humor, there is no need for panic. No drama. All is well with the world. At least for us , Mediumites?
