Is HTC 10 for you?

This article contains the same set of questions as this one, that was about LG’s Nexus 5X: https://medium.com/@ivansemkin/is-googles-nexus-5x-for-you-682eabeeedbd. I recommend checking it first.

Unfortunately for me, I was not paid to make this article, so these are my personal thoughts about this phone. My compares are mainly based on SGS 7, Nexus 6P/5X, Xiaomi Mi5, LG G5, Huawei P9 and iPhone 6s.

You are a music lover

Gorgeous stereo speakers. One is “a woofer” and one is “an earpiece”. They have 2 modes: music and theatre. Volume level is high, but you can hear some distortion on 2 last options. Music sounds amazing, but you can clearly hear disbalance while watching films. But is this about cinema lovers? FOR YOU.

You are a blogger

OIS in front-facing camera. Fast focusing. Great quality (you might suffer from having no HDR, but we’re talking about video here). It would be a shame not to mention it’s microphone, that outputs sound comparable to my studio microphone. PROBABLY FOR YOU.

Why probably? Because Samsung Galaxy S7 without OIS has less shaking and better picture quality. But it has awful sound, compared to HTC 10. It’s your choice tho.

You are a camera lover

HTC always had bad cameras in their phones. HTC 10 is an exception. It’s not completely bad. It has OIS and even EIS in 1080p. It works really fast, really stable. Has 12mp sensor, 1.55um pixel size, shoots 4k video, has laser focus and has true tone flash (that’s really dim btw). It has a lot of interesting options available. And it takes okay pictures in mid-light. And like I’ve said, it has a gorgeous microphone.

But low light performance suffers. It often takes blurry images. RAW images are noisy. API 2.0 is closed to third-parties. It has a yellowish tint. And sometimes images may be oversaturated. If you asked, I would place this camera ABOVE Nexus 5X/6P one. But it’s way better that LG G5/Xiaomi Mi5 one. The choice is yours, so PROBABLY FOR YOU.

You are a gamer

Snapdragon 820, 4 gigs of RAM, MicroSD slot. FOR YOU. Don’t even bother doubting.

You are a screen maniac

Pretty colors, big resolution, deep black and a lot of configuration options. Brightness is enough to use it outside. But if you look at it at angle the glass (not the screen) may get a small “rainbow” on it. FOR YOU.

You want a premium-feeling phone

Amazing build quality, premium materials, great fell. That’s it, FOR YOU.

You want to use it for the whole day

1440p screen eats a lot, but it’s still not a problem, as it gets average 4.5 hours of SOT of high use. (Max brightness, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Facebook) 4.5h is the amount the average person needs per day. FOR YOU.

You want multitasking

4 gigs of RAM. 4 dam gigs of RAM. System eats a lot (1.4gb), but still not a problem. FOR YOU.

You just want a phone that works

Uhm, it works. It just does.

Overall, it’s a step in the right direction from HTC. If you live in the US and music is not something really important to you, consider buying Galaxy S7 (Edge). Otherwise, it’s the best available option (for early Summer 2016).
