Humans, it’s Christmas time!!
I just love this time of the year! It represents family time. When my mom, dad, bro and I go out of routine, travel, have awesome experiences, discover new places, have special meals. Is time for fun and connection ❤
In this month I took the decision to start giving shape to “Dreamkers“, step 1: believe in it and say it out loud. I am so excited to move into another direction from what I’ve been doing for the last three years. And if this is the time to believe in miracles, then it is the time to start! ;) Talking about miracles, I remember that amazing WestJet X-Mas commercial! have you seen it? is truly magical! — I’m sorry about my info-volcano-constantly-eruption attitude!
Ok, so back to the origins of Desing Thinking in my life. I’ve been reading a lot since 2012 about design thinking on the internet, bought the book This is Service Design Thinking, bought the movie/documentary Design & Thinking, joined meetup.com and went to all the events related to design thinking, creativity, even agile! it’s a great platform to meet interesting people that can add so much value into your life. Went to the Barcelona Design Thinking Week, exactly on July 2nd for the workshop This Is Service Design Thinking facilitated by Geke van Dijk and Bas Raijmakers — awesome people! — that date is the first time I messed my hands with design thinking tools. I really wanted to go as well to the, Think like a Startup Canvas & Game by Arne Van Oosteroom from DesignThinkers Group and Design Thinkers Academy. For working’s reasons I couldn’t take the day off so I couldn’t go. But, that was just an incentive to keep looking more about DT Academy.
I sent an email to them asking for personal training, Arne was such a charming person during the whole process of preparation, a big thanks wouldn’t be enough. I know you can say, less drama Iva, but — for me, it was a life changing process. I love design thinking, learning how to use the tools was and still is a big part of my own project/business. So it was a BIG deal ;) He cheered me up to make the real step 2: believe in myself and start moving pieces. He said:
Once you move one piece, everything will start moving, things will start shaking, and you will begin to attract what you want.
On February I’ll have to go to Amsterdam for the second half of the training, on their local studio. I know, I’ll have lots of stuff to say!
BTW Tonight I’ll be attending the first mapping #servicedesign Barcelona. A session organized by Itiziar and Marc — fantastic people and designers of WeQuestionOurProject — who put together the Service Design Community in Barcelona. Let’s see what happens!
