This one goes to one of my favorite innovators of all the time, besides of course my dearest Albert E. Today I’ll talk about that brilliant mind that is David Kelley, founder of one of the best global designing consultancy IDEO. My relationship with David, although he doesn’t know about it yet, is that we share a similar background story. I graduated as an Electronic Engineer (enjoyed every day), moved to Spain to do a master in Mobile Communications, then a postgraduate in Audiovisual Interactivity, and so far I’ve been working as a presales/marketing/product manager in a big wholesaler for Cisco products.
Last year I discovered Design Thinking and just fell in love with it. This year I’m working to gear my career towards this area. Steve Jobs was so right on 2005 Stanford’s speech: “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”
Very inspiring speech. So, after deciding where I wanted to go from now on, I am constantly looking for opportunities and challenges that allow me to prepare myself. There is when I found about Open Ideo and join the team in Barcelona.
Open Ideo is an open innovation platform for social good that posts challenges. You can create your own team in your city and work into all the phases of design thinking to find a solid and valid solution. Right now we are working on How might we inspire young people to cultivate their creative confidence?. I’ll keep you posted whether we received lots of applause or not ☺
In the meantime, I will leave you with one of the nicest videos of David “How to build your creative confidence”. Sit back, relax and listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjes9P6SLiY
