For example, when your child is struggling with a task it is helpful for them to say “I can’t do this by myself. “ Another phrase you could use would be “I need a little help. “ When teaching your child these phrases, it is important that you come from the position of encouraging and supporting them in a positive way. It’s also important that they know they can come to you if they need more help.
When teaching your child a new phrase, it’s important that you approach it from a positive place and not from a position of trying to change the person into someone else. You want your child to grow their confidence by giving them the tools they need without telling them how much better or worse their life will be if they use them.
