The Not-So-Illusory Self
Joshua Heiland

I always enjoy sitting in another country with the feeling that no one here knows me and I can be anyone. I don’t think self can ever be static or an illusion; there are too many survival mechanisms in place even in the extreme cases. Even during meditation when you may try and deflect thoughts, you are still changed by not acknowledging those thoughts just as you’d be if you had given them a moment of their own. No feedback is still feedback.
