the state or quality of being worthy of honor: the dignity of manual labor.

Several years ago a young leader asked me if there is one quality my wife and I have that defines our values and our work. Without hesitation, I responded, “Dignity.” I went on to explain that growing up in Apartheid South Africa daily witnessing the extreme lack of dignity thrust upon whole populations because of their skin color, and the destructive generational impact such undignified behavior resulted in, caused us to decide that whatever the cost to us personally, we will always treat others with dignity. To treat all human beings with the honor we each naturally carry from being made in God’s image. When we properly respect one another, we do in fact perform an act worship God.
