Ever curious, I goggled my name and the meaning was “behold the sun” (https://www.thebump.com/b/idalia-baby-name). Well, that certainly describes my sunny nature!
A few years ago, I met three students from Singapore who, when asked to translate my name, broke it down in pronunciation syllables, and did a phonetic translation of it. They said the segments yielded the following three words — Love, Beauty, Elegance — in that order. And since I have no way of proving them wrong, I fully embraced their translation of my name. Wouldn’t you?
