Awesome post James!

I wonder how much of the ratings depend on the quality of the show versus the convenience of actually being able to watch it all at once if you want rather than at the weekly pace of TV stations. This, for many, I believe probably plays a huge factor in the likability of a show. (Perhaps this explains the Marco Polo 24% rating by critics) Though there are so many awesome Netflix originals like House of Cards that are just so good.
