“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” As a Christian, this is the first thing we learn when opening the bible, it is what we are taught in church, and is also what I personally believe in. In high school, I remember learning about evolution, being interested to hear what some scientists believe, respecting the opinions, agreeing with some, and disagreeing with others. Something that I agreed with is that living things on this earth do evolve over time, and that is why different people, animals, and plants thrive in different environments. If we did not evolve over time, everything would be the exact same — there would be no variation in the world. I cannot however wrap my brain around the idea of a whale coming from a bear, or our universe coming from “soup” as it was referred to in one of the videos as well as I learned in school. But then again, some may not be able to wrap their heads about the idea of “God creating the heavens and the earth.” I believe we have such an amazing freedom to be living in the United States where we can have our own, individual thoughts and beliefs, as well as being able to openly discuss our beliefs with others. I am very excited for this lesson and to hear what others believe in. :)
