The Domestication of Snapchat

I like to say that Facebook is going to take over the world, but not before they either acquire or completely eliminate the need for Snapchat. Snapchat was founded just over four years ago, and in that short time frame, the app reportedly generates 10 billion video views a day. And this is mobile only. Facebook’s last reported daily video views was 8 billion in November, and even though this number has most likely increased since then, that is combined mobile and desktop video views.

Snapchat’s growth is insane! It blows my mind every time I read about it (Disclaimer: I do not have a Snapchat, so it’s hard for me to truly understand its power). And, in your words, it has definitely become domesticated. It’s even become a preferred method of communication for some people. All my 17-year-old brother does is Snapchat his friends. Texting isn’t cool anymore, apparently. Now, you need the rainbow vomit filter layered on top of a selfie to really get your message across.
