Why is that what student-athletes are “supposed to be”? Why can’t they put equal emphasis on both parts of their lives?

I wasn’t even a college athlete — i just played two varsity sports in high school — and the relationships I made during my time playing sports, as well as the lessons I learned, developed me in a far greater way than any class I took or test I studied for.

Academics is a largely enriching aspect of life, and I don’t deny its importance by any stretch, but the idea that its always more important than extracurriculars is just garbage elected official-speak, and I’m really tired of hearing it.
