Why the church is not for me

first, i must commend you on having the strength to speak about the church, its teachings and about one’s faith…that is surely a mixture for an explosive thread/response..

it bothered you so much, you had to speak (write) about it…sometimes it takes one person to open the floodgates, to allow others to speak in a place that is safe, where they have found others to can empathize with their plight with a particular religion/belief system…

i knew something was wrong with the churches (at least her in the US) when the churches were re-scheduling services around Super Bowl Sunday, when mega-churches subscribe to the “prosperity” theology and other ideas which i believe to inherently go against the teachings of the bible…

and its very sad for someone who is looking for spiritual guidance, but when that same guidance favors more on the material and not the SPIRITUAL side of things, this is where The Word has taken the wrong turn…

last time i checked, Jesus didn’t need to much, or nothing at all to fulfill his destiny. however, i am always surprised when people quote, “what would jesus do?” apparently, they do not SEE the real message jesus was trying to tell them, cause they aren’t DOING what jesus would have done…

thank you for your piece..
