Even though I believe this to be a rhetorical question I am interested in sharing my view.

thank you for your response. i know of the “ letter from a birmingham jail”. i can only imagine what dr. king had to endure as he sat in that jail cell for a week, meticulously writing every sentence that flowed from his hand. All he had at his disposal was the margins of a newspaper and a stubby pencil. and 53 years later, that letter has moved through history, inspiring millions around the world. my intent was not to denigrate the civil disobedience, but to highlight it. it is an act that is much needed. one must thank henry david thoreau and his essay “civil disobedience.” when i envision such an act, i think of mahata gandhi, who breathed life into the action. civil disobedience makes those in control uncomfortable. those who participate in civil disobedience refuse to wait for those in control to decide the timing of unjust laws. and yes, what you say is true, it is systemic and the system is broken.
