Adventurous — My #OneWord For 2016

Last year, I learned something from James Prescott. That was the idea of having #OneWord that would be your focus for the year. I really fancied that idea, much more than making New Year’s Resolutions like most people would do.

Why is that is because I think having #OneWord to focus on that relates to what you want to see in your life for the year is much more better than struggling with the several ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’ list we create at the beginning of each year.

Moreover, at the long run, majority of people who started off with such resolutions end up giving up their pursuit because they get worn out along the way.

I feel that having #OneWord seems more inspirational and energizing than struggling to meet up with stuffs I put on myself. Like I said, last year, I choose a #OneWord — Bold. It meant that I needed to face my fears in certain areas of my life so I can be free to pursue my dreams. I was blessed to have applied this principle.

So, this year, I am on the journey again!

My #OneWord for this year is ADVENTUROUS! Yeah.

I choose that word because I have heard so much about it and see people talk about having an adventurous spirit without making personal effort to understand and experience what this means.

So, this year I am on a journey.

I am ready to fail.

I am ready to win.

I am ready to face the unknown.

I am ready to be discouraged.

I am ready to be inspired.

I am ready to find a new dimension of me.

I am ready to take new risks, try new ideas, methods and experiences.

I am ready to enjoy all the excitement.

Why I chose this word?

Like Eleanor Roosevelt rightly said

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

I want to take those risks I have been procrastinating on. Many times we have risks to take but we consciously avoid them because we are afraid to fail. We do not want people to see us in that light.

I have held some ideas. Deep down, I am sure these ideas would work. At the same time, I am aware they may never work. But still, I want to adventurously attack them and work on them. If they work, so be, if not, at least, I tried. That’s better than living in fear, I believe.

“Everything you want is on the other side of fear.” — Jack Canfield

I know that when you step out, you have the whole of life willing to back you and bring you all the excitement. I am looking forward to that excitement in all my life this year.

This year, I am ready to assume nothing but question everything. They say you don’t know how to do it- The best thing to do is not to assume you know but at the same time, question that notion and be free to be you. That is part of my adventurous 2016 bucket list.

So, this year, I want you to forget about New Year’s resolution and FOCUS on applying #OneWord in your life and business this year. Now, I will like you to think deeply. What would be that #OneWord you want to drive you this year?

“As you move outside of your comfort zone, what was once the unknown and frightening becomes your new normal”.– Robin S. Sharma

What is the one thing you really want to do or experience in your life this year? Take time to think about this. When you find it, focus on it and be committed to it throughout this year. You may achieve more doing this than trying to meet 101 resolutions.

I will like you to share with me in the comment box below using #OneWord when you do so. Let’s head to the comment box and have fun.

To an adventurous 2016!
