PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WEEK
(22/02/2017) On paper this is a whole week away from uni, but in reality its not (Well, for me it isn’t anyway lol). My aim was to be productive this week and get up to date on everything such as applying for placements, writing up lecture notes, assignment planning etc. I did go home for a few days just to see my family and friends but I came back early to get work done.
In PDW I started reading ‘How To Be A Productivity Ninja’ by Graham Allcott. Its a good book that has lots of common sense ideas that we don’t use in our lives about how to be productive. For example, one of the worst things you can do is always make yourself available. It’s basically an invitation for distraction and interruption. Another one was that having a clear space helps provide clear perspective and as a result you’re able to re-evaluate your priorities, which I think is very true!
Also during PDW, I finally found the time to sit down and figure out what I want out of my degree. I realised that my interest is within branding and communications. However, I know that if I want to get into this field, I need to develop my verbal communication skills even further, which I am determined to achieve by the time I start my placement (If I get one).
Also during this week I got a response from Red C Marketing for a placement interview! This is really exciting because Red C seems like a really fun agency. Plus its in Manchester (Not Bracknell).
