The designer job is a rational job for me. I chose this because wanted to be a Designer. In my 12+ years of experience, maybe the first 3 years was terrible. Figuring whether I took a right career or the right choice regarding my profile. But it shouldn’t be the way. 3 years is too far for a designer to figure out who is he and what is his/her particular area of interest. Nowadays tech in high, you got to be fast in adapting designs.

Reader Caution: The first 15 points that the designer should follow. (Who should: Basic & Intermediate Designers)

These first 15 points will help you be a better designer.

Note: The first 6 points will technical.

01. Difference between Raster and Vector Images.

Raster and Vector Images

The difference between vector and raster graphics is that raster graphics are composed of pixels, while vector graphics are composed of paths.

02. CMYK and RGB

CMYK and RGB

RGB refers to the primary colors of light, Red, Green, and Blue, that are used in monitors, television screens, digital cameras, and scanners. CMYK refers to the primary colors of pigment. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black which will be used in print mediums. More info CLICK HERE

03. DPI and PPI

DPI and PPI

Though the terms DPI (dots per inch) and PPI (pixels per inch) both describe the resolution (or clarity) of an image, they’re not the same thing. PPI describes the number of square pixels that show up in an inch of digital screen (usually between 67–300). DPI, on the other hand, is a printing term referring to the number of physical dots of ink in a printed document.

04. Typography

Typography

Should be able to know the basic knowledge of typography and it types. Starting from Seri to Slab Serif. Typography is a deep ocean, understanding the basis is mandatory for every designer. More info CLICK HERE

05. Grids

Grids

Without Grids noting exist in the world. Any man-made object will have grids. Same in design grids will help you to do better alignment and positioning of the component. More info CLICK HERE

06. Difference between Logo Design and Branding

Logo Design and Branding

It is something like Chicken and Egg story. Many get confused with between Logo and Branding. The logo is the symbol and typography of the product. Branding is the position of the logo and placement. More info CLICK HERE

07. Paper Matters

Paper Matters

Any design you start of with, make sure you use the paper first. Do your basic scribble which runs your mind. This will help you execute the design well.

08. Collect and Share

Collect and Share

I still remember I have 100’s of CDs with full of design reference. Everything is waste, I couldn’t be able to use it. It all went for scrap. Don’t be like this, Never regret to share your design inspirations. Collect and share your knowledge.

09. Keep Sketch Book

Keep Sketch Book

Always carry a sketchbook with you. Doesn’t mean that you need to be an artist. You can get inspiration anywhere. Mark it visually more than writing. It will improve your visual design.

10. Observe Trends

Observe Trends

Be up to date regarding design trends. Every year the pattern of design changes, you got to be on the par to adopt any trending design. Don’t get biased in one art form of design.

11. Make Mistake

Make Mistake (The image mistake is on purpose to graps attention)

Early stage makes a lot of mistakes. Let it be in that way because then you will not repeat your mistakes. Don’t get regret of mistake you have committed. Mistakes are the best way to learn fast.

12. Value your work.

How many still value our First Amateur Design. Value it, because everything needs a start. Never underestimate your design.

13. Research Lot

Research Lot

Keep specific time for doing research in a day. Don’t do on-demand research. Allocate extra time in a day for Research and learning new things.

14. Respect Environment

Respect Enviroment

This doesn’t mean that you need to save nature. From nature, you can take a lot of visual design and graphic elements. Observe nature it gives us a lot of inputs.

15. DIY

DIY — Do it Yourself

DO IT YOURSELF, the best way to being creative. In our office every month we do DIY activity for the entire office. It always keeps your inner child active. Do a lot of DIYs.
