Hypomania is an extreme level of Bipolar Disorder, which influences all areas of your life, including your attention, mood, behaviours, and energy level. You feel an elevation in your mood or energy level when you have this psychological problem. The mood or energy elevation is higher but doesn’t cause any impairment to your body.

There is no permanent cure for this mental illness. However, you can live a healthy life by managing the symptoms and bringing a few changes in your lifestyle. Here are some simple tips for your help:

1. Educate Yourself

Before moving forward to deal with the extreme level of bipolar disorder, you need to acknowledge yourself about the signs of depressive and manic episodes. Also, you need to know research-oriented available treatment options. Understanding the problem can assist you manage the symptoms efficiently before they get worse.

2. Stay Connected With Your Family Members, Friends, And Other Well-Wishers

Isolation may trigger the risks associated with mood changes remain unnoticed. Further, it may increase a repetitive depressive episode. Always, be with any one of your family members or friends. You can make psychiatrists, counsellors, and other health professionals a part of your support system. Staying connected with your well-wishers helps you avail the required support and feel energized.

3. Limit Your Screen Time And Encourage Good Sleeping Habits

As per a CNN story, gadgets, like smartphones, tablets, computers, and televisions can disturb your sleep. The blue light of screens at bedtime stimulates your brain, making you awake. Also, the programs you watch affect you and your mood. A thriller or horror movie can elevate your mood and change your behaviour. You must have a sleep routine. Before going to bed, switch of lights and maintain a significant distance from screens.

4. Stay Away From Caffeine And Alcoholic Beverages

Apart from making you feel energized, caffeine works oppositely to you if you have any psychological problem. The beverages, like wine and coffee can boost your energy to the extreme level, and managing that can be difficult for you. You must avoid taking coffee and drinking alcoholic beverages to have control over your mood and behaviours.

5. Do Workouts And Meditation

In hypomania attack, your mood changes amazingly and you have no control over your behaviour and attention. Due to lack of control over your mind and heart, you become abusive. In the extreme case, you are suicidal or eager to hurt anyone. Therefore, having control over your heart and mind is crucial for you. And you can do this by working out and meditating.

You should find a psychologist when you start noticing changes in your mood, energy, behaviour, and attention. Such an expert will communicate with you and explain you all the existing as well as potential symptoms of bipolar disorder. The psychologist will help you know what symptoms indicate hypomania and what should you do to cope if you face an attack of extreme bipolar disorder.
