Two lists unlike all the others, or: what happens when you ask people to pay for journalism online

This model is very interesting and I can see how it would be useful to me. I’d be curious about several things:
- How does your editorial team select sources of stories? Do you have preferred partners (e.g. NYT), or do you scan more broadly for stories (and how broadly, how diverse are the sources, and how do you decide what’s a good source)?
- Aside from feedback from users, how do you decide what stories to offer users?
- Are you assembling interest profiles for each individual user, or an aggregate of interests for all Blendle users? Or both?
To repeat, I think this could be really useful. It’s a worthy experiment as we try to figure out a) how to serve peoples’ interests and b) how to actually pay journalists to keep serving peoples’ interests. I think beyond that is a question of how it serves the public interest, that is, engaging people and communities with information that helps them improve their lives.
