Casey Neistat Introduces Us To Molly Burke
I subscribe to Casey Neistat’s YouTube channel. And while I generally enjoy his work, I’m also aware that he can be a bit of a promoter.
He will occasionally post videos that are overtly commercial or self-promoting. And his video titles can be a bit click-baity sometimes, not in a deceptive way, but to overemphasize some minor aspect of a video.
I’m OK with this. I accept that he’s doing this, at least in part, to earn a living. And I think he does an acceptable job of disclosing the things that need disclosing, and keeping his ego reasonably in check. His work on the whole is very well done. He seems like he may be a nice guy.
So it was with all these filters that I was holding off on watching his video titled, “She’s a Blind YouTuber”. I feared it would be trivial, or minimize an important subject.
I was mistaken.
I was pleasantly surprised to watch a touching example of Casey, and by extension we his audience, learn some things about what it means to be blind in our world. And to meet a woman who seems to be doing a admirable job of coping with, and perhaps mastering, her disability.
Watch.
