I would also add — to remove the age dependency on parents (24 yr old) from the financial aid system, but that would cloud up the message you wrote which focuses on the Pell grant.

Not all students come from perfect nuclear families that support them in college and that can be a struggle for students in getting financial aid, because you are supposed to provide your parents proof of income. If a parent is not around or not supportive of their child, it is impossible to acquire their proof income, an income that also has no impact on the actual money that is being contributed their college education. Some institutions work with students, while others make them jump through hoops or require a doctor’s note or require legal emancipation to have happened.
