The main question is why not? The privacy rights of citizens are now meaningless letter anyway, so why not use the readers in the manner Martinez is asking for? Computer information systems allow searches that are not called searches without probable cause, and until that fundamental problem is addressed, the fourth amendment can safely be called null and void.
