Jack Kroll for University of Colorado Regent
I am excited to announce my campaign for Regent of the University of Colorado. As a native of Colorado’s first Congressional District and graduate of both Denver South High School and the University of Colorado Denver, I understand the educational needs of our community.
I believe that education is a fundamental right for all, and I will work to extend access to higher education to all students — regardless of their background or family income.
I take inspiration from my mother who spent eight years working through pharmacy school as a non-traditional student. Along the way she started a family and laid the foundation for what she and my father would build into their realization of the American Dream.
I am a proud Denver native and University of Colorado alumnus and I am excited to be a candidate for CU Regent in Colorado’s First Congressional District. I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with bachelor’s degrees in economics and English. While at CU-Denver, I served as Student Body President and then as Chair of the Inter-Campus Student Forum — a position where I represent all 55,000 students in the University of Colorado system to the Board of Regents.
I work as an Assistant Director of Admissions for the Boulder campus and this role places me on the frontline of the fight for access and affordability to higher education. It is my job, everyday, to help students realize their dream of a college education.
The brother and son of veterans, I am especially passionate about helping men and women transition out of the military and into college, which is why I founded CU Boulder Military Student Day — a day that allows veterans and their family members to explore the educational opportunities available at CU-Boulder.
After serving as vice president for two years, this year I am honored to serve in the role of President of the University of Colorado Denver Alumni Association Board of Directors. In my first three years with the Alumni Association we raised over $200,000 in scholarship funds.
I am active in the Democratic party of Denver having served as Precinct Committee Person in House Districts 8 and 5. Currently, I also hold office as the Treasurer of the Denver Young Democrats.
Next July, I will marry the love of my life, Vanessa Roman of Pueblo, CO. Vanessa also works at CU-Boulder and serves on both the University of Colorado Boulder Alumni Board of Directors and the CU-Boulder Latino Alumni Association. We work side-by-side, everyday, to extend opportunities for higher education to all students.
