Jack Landsmanas and Corporativo Kosmos Ensuring High Health Standards
Nearly a third of Mexico’s health budget goes to diabetes complications. Among the efforts by public health to confront these circumstances, Corporativo Kosmos and CEO Jack Landsmanas lead the way with the highest standard in food services in Mexico.
Long an investor in community health and the environment, Corporativo Kosmos is now supported by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy for its corporate social responsibility, and it has adopted United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for mitigating diabetes and eliminating child hunger.
With over 12 million in Mexico suffering from diabetes, the Mexican government and private sector have launched initiatives to counteract poor diets and obesity.
Corporativo Kosmos, one of the country’s largest food-service distributors, is well prepared to meet these challenges, delivering over 3 million kilograms of locally-sourced fruits and vegetables every month. Its subsidiary, Serel, is also a provider of hot food services for such institutions and government programs as hospitals, schools and correctional facilities.
Continuously seeking to improve as a sustainable provider of healthy foods, Corporativo Kosmos and Jack Landsmanas rely on top nutritionists and chefs to create healthy offers. They make use of such anti-oxidant-rich ingredients as spinach and blueberries and sugar-absorption regulators as nuts, seeds and spices. They also make use of cultured foods, such as yogurt and sauerkraut, for better digestion through healthy bacteria.
UNICEF recognizes child malnutrition as a leading cause of infant mortality and lasting physical and psychological effects for life, such as stunted growth and fatigue and compromised learning ability and immune systems due to a lack of vitamins and minerals.
To prevent the serious effects of malnutrition during the critical 1,000 days from gestation to two years of age, the World Health Organization recommends 400 grams minimum of fruits and vegetables each day.
Through the Pablo Landsmanas Foundation, founded by Jack Landsmanas, Corporativo Kosmos remains dedicated to ending hunger, delivering food supplies for children and vulnerable populations in the country of Mexico, ensuring they receive the essential minerals, vitamins and micronutrients for health.
Corporativo Kosmos began 55 years ago as a small shop in Mexico City and has grown to include lunchroom services and boxed meals, hotel catering and provisions for oil rigs and ships. The company is capable of distributing 800 tons of food for over 3 million people each day.
Corporativo Kosmos president, Jack Landsmanas, is passionate about ensuring a sustainable network for food services and is dedicated to philanthropic efforts in Mexico.
Jack Landsmanas founded the Pablo Landsmanas Foundation in 2016 in honor of his grandfather and the company’s founder, Pablo Landsmanas, through which Corporativo Kosmos provides 22 social services with nearly half a million meals each month.
Jack Landsmanas is dedicated to carrying on his grandfather’s legacy of perseverance, integrity and quality through the foundation’s motto “For you, for them, for Mexico”.
