Data scientist was named as the sexist job in the 21st century and the need is clearly growing. Are you looking for a data science job? Do you know what programming languages and skills are needed on the job market in 2020? Do you know your current skills may fit which job titles the best? I hope you could have some answers after reading this report.

Why do I start this project?

The job title, “Data scientist”, was invented in 2015. Even after 5 years, friends and I often see/hear the huge difference of job descriptions/duties of the same title. It is interesting to observe how large the variations are and whether these titles are more defined.

It’s been projected that data scientist positions will increase from 33,200 in 2019 to 43,400 in 2029 according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (ref.). It is helpful for current and future job hunters to understand the up-to-date job market and requirements.

What are the frequent keywords in job titles?

Apparently, it’s “Data Scientist”. Other titles, like “Data Analyst”, “Data Engineer” are also popular in this dataset. This allows us to compare these titles later.

What industrial sectors are…
