We’ve run ourselves like a banana republic, but it’s time to hash out the new constitution.* This is where you can post thoughts and we can hold discussions.

This is the previous constitution

Built for Winter Fantasy Rules

The built for winter fantasy football league will consist of the following rules and regulations for the 2011-2012 Fantasy Season.

Draft Rules:

1. The 2011 Fantasy Draft will be held on Tuesday August 23rd 2011 at 8:00PM. If the team owner cannot participate in the draft live, the league should be notified in advance and his spot can be forfeited if the league votes via majority (5 out of 9 votes) to remove the team and replace them with a team who is at the draft.

2. The 2011 fantasy draft will be an auction draft. Each team will have $200.00 of Fantasy Money to draft their team by.

3. The 2011 scoring system is posted on the fantasy website via the ESPN hosted league. All teams are expected to review the scoring prior to their drafting of a player.

4. Each draft pick will have 90 seconds for bidding. All bidding and auction actions will be per the ESPN auction draft settings.

5. Each roster will be 17 players based on the league rules.

Free Agent Rules:

1. All free agents this year will be based on a auction system. Each team will have a total of $100.00 for auction and free agent pick-ups.

2. All requests for a waiver pick up must be paid by Thursday at 5PM and Saturday at 5PM to fill your team that week.

3. All free agent pick ups have a minimum value of $1.00

4. If a team runs out of their auction money they are unable to make any acquisition for the remainder of the season.

5. If a player on your team goes down with a season ending injury and you have $0.00 left for player pick up, you may forfeit that player for half of his draft value, no greater than $10.00 to be used on one player pick up. (League Manager approval can be granted for injuries that are potentially season ending; i.e. Tony Romo in 2010.)

Trade Rules

1. Draft Picks, Draft Dollars, Players, and Waiver Dollars are all eligible for trades.

2. All trades will be approved by the two commissioners, if the commissioners cannot agree on a trade the will be put to a vote by the league. A majority vote is needed for trade approval (6 of 10 votes)

3. Any trade that is approved by the commissioners but results in 2 or more members of the league objecting to said trade will default to a league vote for veto. If 6 of the 10 members vote to veto the commissioners approval the trade will be reversed.

League Fees and Payments

1. Built for Winter is a paid league this year. The cost to enter the league will be as follows: $50.00 for the 2011-2012 league and a pre-payment of $25.00 towards the 2012-2013 season.

2. The reason for the pre-payment is due to the keeper league format BFW is having this year. See the keeper league rules below.

3. All payments are due to Josh by September 6th 2011. If your entry fee is not paid, your team will be forfeited and sold off.

4. The Payouts will be as follows for the 2011-2012 season:

a. First Place: $400.00

b. Second Place: $100.00

5. The $25.00 fee you pay towards next season will be part of next year’s league fees. This will ensure you compete all year and do not give up on your keeper team. If you choose to not enter next year, you fee is non-refundable and will go into the 2012-2013 league pot.

Keeper League and Rules about Values

Built for Winter is becoming a Keeper League starting this season. The keeper league will run for 3 seasons starting with this draft. The keeper rules are as follows:

1. A team will only be able to keep a player that they have drafted and held on their team the entire year. This player can never leave their roster to be eligible as a keeper.

2. Each team will be allowed to keep the following players.

a. One (1) player who is purchased above the $36.00 value

b. One (1) player who is purchased between $15-35.00 value

c. One (1) player who is purchased from $1.00-14.00 value

d. Only three players are allowed to be kept by a team

e. A team can elect to keep a player from a lower bracket, but cannot keep more than 3 total players.

3. The value of a player for the subsequent years auction drafts will be calculated as follows:

a. A player may be kept for his purchase price the following year even if the ESPN established value increases

i. Ex: If a player is purchased for $20.00 and is valued by ESPN during the 2012-2013 season for more than $20.00 then the team can keep the original player for the original purchase price for the second year.

b. During the third year, the players value will be the original purchase price + 50% of the value difference between original purchase price and the ESPN value.

i. Ex: If a player is purchased for $20.00 and is valued by ESPN during the 2012-2013 season at $30.00 then the team can keep the original player for $25. (30-20)*.5+20=25

c. If the player receives a decline in value the team may elect to keep the player at a price reduced by 50% of the change in value.

i. Ex: If a player is purchased for $20.00 and is valued by ESPN during the 2012-2013 season at $10.00 then the team can keep the original player for $15. (10-20)*.5+20=15

d. For a player to be eligible kept as a keeper he must have been drafted by the original team owner.

2012-2013 Keep Value Example

Draft purchase price: $20.00

2012-2013 Value rises to $30.00

Keeper Value charged: $20.00

2013-2014 Keep Value Example

Draft purchase price: $20.00

2013-2014 Value rises to $30.00

Keeper League Value = $20.00 + (50%*$10.00) $5.00 = $25.00 for keeper league value.

2013-2014 Keep Value Example

Draft purchase price: $20.00

2013-2014 Value declines to $10.00

Keeper League Value = $20.00 — (50%*$10.00) $5.00 = $25.00 for keeper league value.

We added a couple of rule changes to this as we went, but it is still a good starting place.
