On Medium, unlike any other platform I’m aware of, you also have the option of hiding offensive responses to your stories. You have to be on a PC to do this, it doesn’t work in the app (not Android, anyway. I don’t know about iOS). Just scroll to the end of your story, to the space right before where the responses start. On the right is a link “Manage Responses.” Click that. Now you can scroll to the offensive response. On the right is a down arrow. Click that. One of the options is “hide this response.” Click that and “poof!” it’s gone. No one who reads your post will see it. Medium’s theory is that your story is your story, and you should have the power to decide what it looks like, including the response thread. Some people argue that hiding offensive responses is censorship, but those people are trolls who want their freak flag to fly at your expense. That’s why God made Twitter… :0)
