Las Vegas Knights sign first player

Today history was made in the NHL, the very first player to ever be put on the roster for the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Reid Duke was signed to a 3 year entry level contract making the first trasaction of the NHL’s 31st franchise.

21-year-old Duke is a foward that was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the 6th round of the 2014 NHL draft. Duke played the last three seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL(Western Hockey Leauge) and had 113 goals and 250 points in 306 games.

Las Vegas’ assistant GM Kelly McCrimmon actaully owns the Wheat Kings and has coached Duke before. With that being said there wasnt too much scouting needed, becasue the assistant GM was able to watch him most of his career in junior hockey. Once the Wheat Kings season ends Duke will travel to join the Golden Knights and prepare for the summer development camp after the NHL entry draft and NHL expansion draft.
