Though I’m not a fan of it at all, you’ve also quite neatly described Brexit there. The resulting fallout has been anything but centrist, yet the original campaign managed to entice a broad coalition of voters through a mix of old and new tactics (and dodgy, dubious, illegal ones) with the likes of Farage and Boris at the helm.

So when the analysts of this ilk suggest a new wide-reaching, mass appeal movement is required, they conveniently forget that we’re currently dealing with the repercussions of exactly that.
