MOCA Jacksonville is a great attraction for anyone to visit while in River City. The cultural institute is part of the University of North Florida. There is art housed there from all over the world, and that makes for some exciting exhibits. The location for The Museum of Contemporary Art in Jacksonville is 333 North Laura Street.

The museum was established in 2003, and the architectural style of the building in which it is housed is Art Deco. While the museum was set up in 2003, MOCA Jacksonville’s roots can be traced back to 1924 and the Jacksonville Fine Arts Society. The building in which the museum is housed is known as the Western Union Telegraph Building.

There are much more than exhibits within the museum. There are also educational facilities and a theater. Visitors can browse the gift shop as well, and you are also going to find a cute cafe called Cafe Nola. Did you know that the facility is a total of 6 floors and 60,000 feet?

There are traveling exhibitions, so you might want to look at what’s current before you arrive. The art museum within Hemming Plaza draws many visitors each year, locals and tourists alike. When you scope out the location, you are going to be in Downtown Jacksonville. One thing people report is that there is free street parking. That’s nice to know when you are going to be visiting a top attraction in a city.

The galleries take up a total of three floors within the building. It was mentioned that the Western Union Telegraph Building is a total of 6 levels. The name of the building makes you think about its history, doesn’t it? It’s not like people are still sending telegraphs, or are they?

When you’re ready to grab a bite to eat, Cafe Nola is waiting. You are going to find it on the top floor of the building. There are undoubtedly many great restaurant choices in JAX, but it’s nice to know that you can grab some delicious food while you are there at the museum. The museum is said to exceed expectations, and there is something for everyone. That being said, MOCA Jacksonville is fun for all ages.

Burrito Gallery is mentioned as one of the other choices for nearby food. That sounds delicious, too, but I would like to check out the top floor and Cafe Nola at least if I were visiting the museum. People say that the museum introduces new exhibitions quarterly. So next time you are in River City, you might want to go back.

As a matter of fact, with three floors of galleries, it’s hard to imagine catching everything the first visit anyway, right? You might see it all, but you are likely to notice something new the next time around. Does a visit to MOCA Jacksonville sound like fun to you and your family? Tell the kids that there is also an area for them to play, and have a blast exploring the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Jacksonville FL.
