This makes sense as this post is from a US-centric view, however it does mention Brexit and the view from the UK is slightly different I think because we still have the BBC, which the vast majority of people regard as an independent, unbiased and trustworthy publicly funded organisation. The BBC is very active in digital publishing and gives us in the UK, I would hope anyway, a place we can trust online that goes out of its way to include multiple viewpoints.
