I believe in people, not “users” or “resources”

People are not abstract, neutral representations of scientific data and typical behavior. People have feelings. Sometimes people are unpredictable. Sometimes people are illogical. People learn and grow and get used to things. People do things without thinking.

Design and build for people.

People are not coal, oil, or natural gas. People are not forests, waterways, or mineral deposits. People are not time, money, or availability.

Design and build with people.

Did you know:

Before computers, “user” was slang for someone who does drugs. Here are some synonyms for user, according to Merriam-Webster: addict, druggie, fiend, freak, junkie, stoner.
