Job Search, Reinvented: My Crazy Ride with GPT-4

How GPT-4 flipped my job hunt on its head, making it more productive, efficient, and downright effective.

As a job seeker in today’s competitive market, I’ve always looked for ways to stand out and make my search more efficient. When I discovered ChatGPT’s GPT-4 model, I was amazed at how it unlocked a whole new level of productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness for me personally. And today, I’m excited to share my experience with you.

1. Crafting Cover Letters with a Personal Touch With GPT-4, I’ve been able to write cover letters specifically tuned to my writing style and voice. The AI model maintains a casual yet professional tone, which is friendly, approachable, and still conveys important information. It’s like having my own personal writing assistant!
2. Preparing for Interviews: Beyond the Basics GPT-4 isn’t just helpful for basic interview questions. It’s been a game-changer in preparing me for product management, product design, metrics, pricing, and go-to-market questions across a variety of industries. I can generate a customizable list of questions to practice, ensuring I’m well-prepared for any interview.
3. Leveraging PM Frameworks for Better Answers One of the most amazing aspects of GPT-4 is its ability to adapt to different PM frameworks, like Lewis C. Lin’s CIRCLES. This feature is still a work in progress, but it’s already offering invaluable insights and guidance in my preparation.
4. Comparing My Answers to “Ideal” Responses I can also compare my answers to GPT-4’s suggestions, allowing me to refine my responses and learn from the AI model. GPT-4 provides solid baseline answers that would likely pass most PM interviews, making it an invaluable tool in my arsenal.
5. Summarizing Product Management Books for Quick Reference GPT-4 can easily look up and summarize product management books, giving me a quick reference when I need it most. While it’s not perfect and sometimes omits specifics, it’s an impressive and helpful feature.

While I haven’t landed a new job yet, I can confidently say that GPT-4 has made my job search significantly easier and more efficient compared to my previous experiences. My mind continues to be blown by what ChatGPT is able to do, as I apply it to more and more of my personal and professional uses.
