Join us for VR Tuesday! Over the past few months I’ve been spending a lot of time orienting myself to the spaces of digital realities: Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). I’ve been reading a ton, meeting dozens of people, and realizing that what I really need to do is just keep learning a whole lot more. And so does everyone else who is excited about the transformational opportunities of the VR & AR space. So let’s get together the second Tuesday of each month and talk creation, monetization and investment in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Join us at http://vrtuesday.com !

We are at the very beginning of a very exciting time. Over the next ten years we will experience a fundamental platform shift moving our most actively used computer from our pocket to in front of our eyes. Ten years ago we experienced a similar shift when our most actively used computers moved from being on top of our desks to gripped within our hands.

There is a lot of naysaying about VR/AR being the future: it’s expensive, it’s antisocial, it makes you nauseous, it’s too difficult, heavy, and no one wants to be tethered to a computer, it’s not real, it’s too far removed, it’s the sign of the beast….there were a lot of naysayers about computers too.

But if you follow the trend lines of computing capacity at smaller scales, the decreasing cost of manufacturing, and the democratization of software and the web, you realize that the next computing platform will be lightweight, incredibly fast, and even more attuned to our everyday lives.

Virtual and Augmented Reality — and as a combination, Mixed Reality — is going to create entirely new experiences, opportunities and methods of communication and collaboration. It won’t be like mobile, it won’t be like the PC. It will open up new worlds, literally; it will open up new opportunities within the actual physical world we walk through every day. It will enable doctors to operate more effectively. It will enable pilots to fly more safely. It will enable people to communicate more intimately. It will enable students to see the world right from their own classroom. It will enable storytellers to tell their stories at a higher fidelity.

This platform shift provides a new opportunity for creators, entrepreneurs, investors and companies to stake a claim in the green fields of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Join us at VR Tuesday, a casual monthly community meet up bringing together a crossroads of application and experience creators, brands and advertisers looking to monetize these experiences, and the investors who are eager to fund the innovation leap.

Hope to see you for VR Tuesday #1 on September 13! http://vrtuesday.com
