Today I have the pleasure to attend the Freedom Forum at my university, Francisco Marroquin University, commonly known as UFM(Universidad Francisco Marroquin). My university is one of the only economically right-leaning universities in Central America and one of the few in Latin America.

Students are required to take classes in courses such as the Ethics of liberty, Philosophy Friedrich of Hayek, Economic process(focused on the teachings of Milton Friedman) among others.

The mission of the university was summed by Dr. Manuel F. Ayau(The founder of the University.) He Said

“Our mission is to spread the ethical, legal and economic principles of a society of free and responsible people. Why? because that is what drives social welfare … it does not produce equality, it produces prosperity. ”

Of particular interest to me, today is Rodrigo Diamanti, a Venezuelan activist for democracy, Roya Mahboob, CEO of the Afghan base Citadel Software, who is building software for educational purposes in Afghanistan, and Yoani Sánchez, an activist in Cuba, she is working to raise awareness about the human rights crisis and journalism in Cuba.

I’m really looking forward to this conference since it coincides with two interests of mine, liberty and the linguistics of liberty. It should be a good conference.
