My First Experience with Medical Discrimination
Carla Lewis

I read your Preoperative Counseling article and laughed my ass off while at another level cringing at the injustice and unfairness of it all. Reading this article, I was just struck by the injustice and unfairness of it all. But taken together, you illustrated the way we have to laugh where we can or we wouldn’t make it day to day, especially as trans people, although any minority can probably relate to the feeling.

The ACA was the best thing that happened to so many people and I sincerely believe racism is behind most of the opposition to it, particularly when it’s referred to as Obamacare and people don’t know Obamacare and the ACA are the same damn thing, but hate it by one name and love it by another. (Sidenote: can anyone tell from that sentence that Faulkner is my favorite writer?)

Carla, I enjoy reading your writing and you inspire me with your life and your activism. I wish I could give back to you the hope and light you radiate into my life whenever I come across your writing. By best to you and your lovely wife (whom I only know from tumblr/Instagram).
