85 Days Away: I Finally Found My Niche
I’m drilling down and finding where my passions merge
This is a daily documentation of my adventure from Hillsboro, Oregon to Cape Town, South Africa on September 16th, 2017.
Day 16: I know what my initial purpose is!
For the past two months exactly, I have been posting on Medium like a madman. So many words published, so many pictures shared. All of it used for telling the world:
“Jake and Jess are going to Cape Town, South Africa in September.”
I can’t lie, it’s becoming a stretch finding new things to write about being a Digital Nomad when I haven’t in fact left home yet. If this whole hurry-up-and-wait issue disappeared, then everything would fall into place and the writing would flow easily.
As it stands, I feel like I’m about to hit a wall.
Yesterday, something in my head clicked. I was wondering how I could bring value to my target audience; could I tackle a problem that wasn’t being solved already? I started pondering all of my passions and expertise and skills. I eventually came to an exciting conclusion:
I want to help people who travel (digital nomads, vacationers, etc.) stay in pique physical shape.
That’s right, folks: I’m going to be a Vaga-Bod, a Globetrotting Bro, merging travel and fitness in a fresh new take. I’ve always been enamored with fitness, pouring my own blood, sweat, and tears in the gym and out in nature. My nutrition protocol has been on point too. I have a decent amount of knowledge in both adventure and fitness, as well as a healthy amount (pun intended) of acquaintances who can fill me in on the science.
This decision of mine really “pumps me up.” (Okay, enough with the puns.)
Will it be a challenge for me? Of course, we’re still moving to another country for three months. But do I feel more comfortable about my niche and passion? Absolutely.
This gives me incredible purpose before the adventure, which is an amazing feeling. I know I need to buckle down even further and develop myself if I want to enter the physique market.
The biggest problem that I want to solve is this: When somebody goes on travel or on vacation, they fall of the wagon and cheat on their nutrition and workouts. I want to give as much information as possible to make sure that doesn’t happen.
