Roger Federer’s pre-return stance. He leans over and spins his racquet in this left hand before standing erect, doing a quick hop and reacting to the ~120mph serve coming his way.
I like Frances Tiafoe. He played through the qualies up to Round of 64 and looked pretty good out there in the first set against Federer. He’s only 19!
Nick Kyrgios. It must be a pain to play against Roger Federer, what with the whole stadium cheering against you. This Tim-Duncan-like body sigh is after a spectator called a ball out and threw him off his groove.
And this is after Krygios smashed his racquet at the end of the third tie-breaker.
I recently splurged and got a subscription to Tennis TV where I watched these matches over the last couple weeks. The Tennis TV cinematographers do some quirky shots, my favorite of which is a close up on the face of the linesman after they’ve been challenged and the review shows they called it wrong. It’s as if they are waiting to see the linesman burst into tears of shame.
Rafa, per usual, dripping with what seems to be a physics-defying amount of sweat.
Federer’s net game. Looking good.
