Confessions of a Bad Teacher: Why I Left my Dream Job
Mary Flegler

Mary, what a great article! Thorough and detailed, you illustrated many of the frustrations I have with the education system. The part that especially resonated was that feeling of always having the perfect lesson plan prepared every day for every lesson. However, I come from a different perspective. I’m a tutor, and all too aware of 1.) the value a one-on-one educator can provide for a student and 2.) how few of the students truly in need I am able to reach with the average hourly tutoring rate and limited availability. So while finding new ways to help more students, I often wonder what can be done to better communicate with teachers without adding to their burden, but instead becoming a much needed source if support.

Best regards,
