Dirty Pretty Things was released back in 2002 and was directed by Stephen Fears. The film follows Owke played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. He is an illegal immigrant who works for a hotel. He also lives with another illegal immigrant named senay played by Audrey Tautou. She also works in that same hotel. One day when Owke is working in the hotel he gets told that there is a problem with a room the character is named julliete played by Sophie Okonedo. He goes up to the room and finds the toliet has been flooding. The cause of that is something clogging the toilets. He looks and finds a human heart inside. He brings it to his friend played by Benedict Wong who works in a monetary. He soon starts to learn about the dark world of a business where the sell organs while also trying to stay away from the people trying to get them in jail.
The first thing that I think I need to talk about is how much I think this premise is really good. I think that the acting in the movie is decent. I think all the main actors do a great job and all have good chemistry together. There is one part near the end of the film that does feel a little forced but other then that part it is good.
Another thing about this movie I liked is the characters in this movie. I think they all feel human and like real people with problems. I won’t spoil it here but near the end of the movie there is a big decesion that one of the characters needs to make. It is very hard to tell what they should do in the situation.
I feel like a movie like this could very easliy have just been a movie with a lot of gore just for shock value, but this movie is not that. This movie did have some honestly disturbing moments but they never feel to explotative of the characters (that incluedes things not releated to the organ trading busniess).
I think my main complainte in the movie is that the run time is too long. Some scenes really drag on and could have been cut down. At times the movie lost my interest because of this.
Overall I think that Dirty Pretty Things is a decent movie that I would recommend.
