How I Turned My Love For Eating Into A Career With PieShell

I’ve been professionally writing for six years now. However, I’ve been a foodie for as long as I can remember. So, just how does one become a foodie? It’s easier said than done. I just eat copious amounts of food, take lots of pictures of what I eat, and share them with all of my social media outlets. Okay, maybe it’s not that complicated after all. Yes, I’m that annoying person that won’t let you eat your food until I’ve taken several pictures of it first. Well, I am happy to announce that all of my picture taking, wine drinking, and social media enthusiasm has paid off: I’m the new Content Writer at PieShell!

Instagramming my food!

I didn’t always consider myself a foodie. I started in the food service industry as a server, and was quickly promoted to bartender. I took pride in what I did and I am a quick learner. I think everyone should be required to work in the service industry for at least a year, but I will save that blog post for another day. It wasn’t until I moved to New York City that I became interested in writing about food. My writing career started in fashion. Covering a trendy fashion show where they passed hors d’oeuvre and champagne, I was introduced to an editor who suggested I start writing about food and wine because I seemed so curious about the food. She put me in touch with a lifestyle publication and the rest, as they say, is history.

So now I get to go to these incredible restaurants and bars, try fantastic food and wine, and write about my experiences. Well, it’s not quite that simple. Writing about food can be challenging, and it’s kept me on my toes. A person’s perception of flavors and aromas is so subjective, I try to be thorough and honest in all of my articles. I have a tremendous passion for food, wine (especially wine!), spirits, and the people who create and serve them; which leads me to why I love PieShell.

I look forward to supporting PieShell crowdfunding campaigns

PieShell isn’t just a crowdfunding source for potential food and beverage businesses; it’s a community that helps food and beverage entrepreneurs to create and share their passion. Providing helpful resources, tools and insights, PieShell works with potential entrepreneurs to help turn their dreams into reality.

While you will find my byline on other work — I’m way too opinionated to stick with just one vertical — I’m really eager to work with pastry chefs who want to open their own bakeries, wine lovers who want to create their own wine labels, and all other foodies that want to start their own businesses.

Let’s stay in touch — sign up for PieShell’s newsletter, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and right here on Medium to get notified about our newest blog posts!

If you enjoyed this or any post, please show the love by liking and sharing it. Thanks!
