The murder of American soldier Tracie McBride
Tracie McBride, a 19-year-old soldier, had recently been assigned to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas. Louis Jones Jr., a fellow soldier, kidnapped, raped, and murdered her 10 days later. He confessed and stated in court that he was suffering from Gulf War Syndrome, which drove him to murder Tracie McBride. On March 18, 2003, Louis Jones was convicted and sentenced to death.

Tracie Joy McBride was born to Jim and Irene McBride on May 27, 1975, in Centerville, Minnesota. She was an older sister, and her younger sister described her as constantly smiling. She was very enthusiastic and lived her life with a sense of purpose.
She liked to bake. And went to Centennial High School, where she was a cheerleader for the soccer team; her mother says the team adored her because she would always bring them chocolate chip cookies.
She intended to join the Army after graduating from high school in 1994. She completed Basic Training as well as AIT, commonly known as Advanced Individual Training. Tracie McBride, 19, was assigned to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, after completing her training.
