The Murders of Ashley Pond & Miranda Gaddis

Ashley Pond, 12, was on her way to school every morning when she went missing one day in January 2002. Authorities first labeled her a runaway, but after two weeks, they changed their decision. Miranda Gaddis, another Ashley Pond friend, goes missing in March 2002. Ward Weaver, who has a dark family history, would go on TV and claim his innocence.

ASHLEY POND & HER DISAPPEARANCE:

On March 1, 1989, Ashley Pond was born. Ashley Pond was 12 when she and her mother Lori Pond lived in the Newell Creek Village apartment in Oregon City, Oregon. Ashley’s father was incarcerated for sexually assaulting her. Ashley was in the seventh grade at Gardiner Middle School. She was on the swim and dance teams in school, had a lot of friends, was outgoing, and overall was a kind and smart person.

Ashley did the same thing she did every morning on January 9, 2002: she left home to walk to the bus stop, but she never arrived. Lori was surprised when the school contacted her to find out why Ashley was not at school because Lori expected her daughter to be there. Lori called the police, and they told her that Ashley was only a runaway because she was 12 years old.

Linda O’Neil, a private investigator, and Pond family friend told Lori the same thing: “Oh, she will call and she will be home in no time.” Police…
