Nothing without music?

Do you ever feel like you’re living life all wrong? Worrying about unimportant details, people’s irrelevant opinions, silly little things. Do you ever wish you could change the way in which you do things but you are so set in your stubborn ways to change? When you listen to music do you feel like you could actually become the the person you feel that you are destined to be?

Music can make you feel ways that are indescribable. It makes you feel like these changes are possible. When music fills your ears, your soul, your “being” it makes you feel like you could achieve anything or be anyone that you wish.

Music helps you to be able feel that quiet in your head in which your mind can be so very still. Or, so alive that your soul & heart want to leap from your body. It helps you to connect to yourself in such a way, that you feel that anything and everything is possible, enabling you to think on a level so clearly that your emotions and thoughts all make complete sense. For that short time you can understand why you feel the way you do about different things, you can take control of your thoughts and feelings.

Music can be that crutch to help you get through hard times in life or it can be the power which aids you through each and everyday, whether your day is turning out to be horrendous, amazing or somewhere in the middle. Every occasion or every emotion can be heightened, diminished or satisfied by the forces of music. Then if you play or sing, it’s like the music almost takes you to a totally different level, you become at one with it.

Then the music stops. Your vision becomes hazy. Everything becomes less obtainable and harder to reach. Life is more confusing without those words to connect with or melodies to fall into. You long to be able to always feel that passion, motivation, inspiration during the times when you can’t have the music flowing into your ears. So maybe that’s something you have to achieve in life. The balance. To be able to achieve those things even when there is no music.

For me I always feel that I have to have a purpose in life. I feel like I need to find a purpose, and even if I can’t ever find it, I feel like I’m suppose to do everything I do, with a purpose. Otherwise what’s the point of doing it at all. But when I listen to music I honestly feel like my existence in that moment is the purpose. Taking long walks, alone with my thoughts and with music flooding from my earphones, makes me feel so alive. This is when I get to take in every moment of the world around me, yet stay so protected and safe in my bubble. There are times when you can use music to block out the world around, as well to bring the world closer to you. But do you ever wonder what you would be without it, because I know I’d be lost.

That’s why I think part of life might be to find that happy medium, to bridge the gap between the time when the music isn’t filling your ears. Music never leaves you, not really. It will constantly be with you in your heart and in your soul but when you can’t hear it, I think that you forget exactly how it makes you feel. The way it makes your heart skink, stomach flutter, energy heighten or all the memories that it evokes. Plus when you’re not listening to the music part of you forgets the power and clarity that it makes your feel. You forget the power it gives you.

I’d love to be able to find a way to gain that power whenever I desire without having to rely on the music. But maybe I never will, because then I think I’d be on my way to figuring out what life is really all about.

Ultimately what I’m asking is; do you ever feel like you’d be nothing without music?

Do you? Because I do.
