Here are some underused areas of Unicode that will make your internet writing better. You can copy the symbols right from this article, or follow the links for complete tables of codepoints.

Math Symbols

Almost every conceivable math symbol is supported in some way. While LaTeX is the recommended way to typeset mathematics, Unicode offers a wealth of symbols, that can be used to write epic one liner expressions. If you are writing a paper for school, this selection of common glyphs from Unicode’s math symbols will be sure to impress your teacher.

Keyboarding Symbols

Sometimes we need to describe what we see on a keyboard. This can be really handy for technical tutorials, rather than saying “Enter” or “Backspace”. Here are some examples.

Matrix Notation

Data science authors often must specify the dimensions of matrices of real numbers. In textbooks, this is done with super scripts. We can use the proper multiplication symbol˟ to show the product, instead of using the letter x. We also used the double lined R to show it is the set of real numbers.
