Good piece. The most interesting point is that of Tom Vilsack’s comment about building tall wooden buildings. That would allow salvage cutting of stands doomed by climate change preventing massive wildfires and further sequestering the carbon in the lumber incorporated in the buildings for a long time.

A point to remember carbon stored in a grassland is likely to remain sequestered far longer than the carbon stored in a tree that will probably die in a few hundred couple of years. Further grasslands can sequest as much or more carbon per acre than a forest.
