GOLD-DIGGERS

They don’t dress like whores. They
Love shoes with flat soles. They

Speak impeccable English. They
Always look babyish. They

Have expensive taste. They
Swear they’re chaste. They

Speak of God often. They
Kiss with eyes slightly open.

I wrote this poem by mimicking the style Gwendolyn Brooks used in penning her poem titled, THE POOL PLAYERS, SEVEN AT THE GOLDEN SHOW
